Childcare roster checker

The ratio calculator tells you how many educators you need. This page checks the educators you actually have: the ratio (regulation 123), the 50 per cent diploma rule and who can be counted (regulations 10, 122 and 126), the early childhood teacher hours for your service size (regulations 130 to 135) and the first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma cover (regulation 136). Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

Ratio 1:4 · r 123(1)(a)
Ratio 1:5 · r 123(1)(b)
Ratio 1:11 · r 123(1)(c)
Ratio 1:15 · r 123(1)(d)

3. Staff present now

One row per person. Tick “working directly with children” for the people who count toward the ratio (regulation 122). Leave it unticked for a nominated supervisor in the office or an educator on a break, who still count for first aid cover if they are on the premises and immediately available.

4. Early childhood teacher today

How to read the result. Pass means the numbers you entered satisfy the provision as written. Attention means the provision turns on a fact this page cannot see (the regulation 10 evidence on file, a Chapter 7 rule for your state, the 30-day and 60-day cover caps). Fail means the numbers do not satisfy it. The regulatory authority decides compliance; this is a research aid against the reprint current at 12 August 2026.
